Alsea Bay

Alsea Bay is near Waldport Oregon at the mouth of the Alsea River. Alsea Bay has earned a reputation as an excellent area for crabbing and fishing. In the bay, crab season is open year-round, but as temperatures drop in the fall, these crustaceans venture out more in an effort to fill out their newer, larger shells.

In the fall, Chinook salmon return to Alsea Bay as early as the last week of August but typically during the first week of September. The run peaks at the end of September and goes into October.
